WOMEN IN MUSIC LAUNCHES ITS TANZANIAN CHAPTER

Last weekend, on a rainy Sunday afternoon Women In Music proudly launched its Tanzanian chapter! The ‘EMPOWER HER SOUND Brunch’ where the chapter was launched took place in 1245 Lounge in Masaki. 

Boss Baddies, Musical Mavens, Artists, Managers, and Media Executives, along with esteemed representatives from the Tanzania Arts Council (BASATA) and The Copyrights Society of Tanzania (COSOTA),attended the event, where history was made in the Tanzanian music landscape.

WIM Tanzania is official and it sets to not only change the game but also aspires to educate, advance, and empower the female creative!  WIM Tanzania is turning up the volume, the heat and the vibe  on female power in the music scene right here in our nation  and we are here for it.  It’s a whole new vibe as WIM Tanzania cranks up the visibility of women in music.

WIM is here to drop, not just the mic but also knowledge.  WIM Tanzania is delivering educational resources making sure every artist, exec, and ally in the game needs to succeed. WIM Tanzania is set to  break down barriers and pave the way for all the talented women in Tanzania.

WIM’s global network from LA, New York and Lagos to Tokyo is banding together to turn their legacy into a  worldwide beat.  The WIM network is bringing that global energy right into the heart of Tanzania’s music business.

“There are many cultural barriers to overcome in Tanzania, but the challenge is accepted. I want women and girls to realise that a career in music is viable, I want to especially see more Tanzanian women participate at executive level in the industry. Through WIM I know we can affect real change”.

“We hope the launch of this chapter will encourage more players in the industry to support and help women coming forward and play their parts: we cannot do this by ourselves -everybody has a role to play, more so men in driving equality and equity for women. We are merely driving the chapter, but the reality is EVERYONE has a role to play and we look forward to working closely with all of you to make this work a success.”

With the passion to create a more inclusive and equitable music industry, WIM Tanzania joins hands with global chapters that transcends borders—from New York to Los Angeles, Japan to South Africa, Nigeria, and beyond. Membership to the chapter is open invitation to all female music executives, artists, and allies with the common goal of nurturing equality and growth in the music realm in Tanzania.
