We first introduced you to Abby Plaatjes on our youtube channel where she shared her vibrant spirit and spilled the tea on her experience being a media personality. Abby then joined us at our last sister circle event – “Securing the bag and the Lifestyle” where we had honest and real conversations about money.
Since then, Abby has been about her business and debuted her first book, a memoir entitled “The Life in my Men”, a written tapestry of quirky moments, serious reflections, and heartwarming revelations. Through her memoir, she invites us to peer into her past and the men that shaped her life.
The book details a very heartwarming and vulnerable upbringing where Abby was systemically labeled as coloured in the oppressive landscape of South African Apartheid.
Her boisterous personality led her close to the edge of immorality at times, but she has always lived her life with intentionality. Along her journey, she encounters fascinating, heartwarming and real men, each adding their unique brushstrokes to the canvas of her life.
Two heroes stand out in Abby’s heart – her foul-mouthed, yet loving father, and her tumultuously genius brother. Their lessons have been her guiding light, helping her understand the enigmatic nature of men and, in turn, understand herself on a deeper level.
